Motion Sensor Algorithm Engineer

Position Description

InfoMotion Sports Technologies Inc. (IST) is looking for a dedicated, self-motivated, intermediate to senior level engineer to develop motion algorithms that will be implemented on IST’s sensor technology platform. This is a full-time position, with benefits, for immediate hire in Columbus, Ohio.

Job Description

  • Design and implementation of data collection experiments, algorithm development, integration and verification into embedded platforms
  • Optimize motion algorithms to minimize processing time and allow results to be available in ‘real-time’
  • Contribute to the development of new/novel algorithms to recognize the pattern of activities/sports motions. Examples including, athleticism drills, basketball shooting, soccer dribbling and shooting drills, and more.
  • Assist with the develop firmware to generate and/or improve the accuracy of inertial data needed as input to motion pattern recognizing algorithms

Required

  • Experience with inertial sensor fusion using accelerometers, rate gyros, and magnetometers
  • Advanced understanding of algorithmic methods for processing signals to achieve highly efficient code implementations
  • Ability to reconcile real-world observations with analytic predictions or simulation models used to create algorithms by gathering real sensor data and using that data as input for simulations of candidate algorithms
  • Minimum of 3+ years of motion sensor algorithm design and development
  • Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field (Masters or PhD preferred)
  • Excellent written and communications skills in a fast pace, collaborative environment
  • Fluent in MatLab or similar signal analysis software tools

Desired

  • Real-world experience with implementing state space control/Kalman filtering using internal sensor data
  • 5+ years of motion sensor algorithm design and development
  • Experience with translating floating point algorithms to fixed point processor or similar architectures
